The RedHawk hitters continued to heat up and Oklahoma defeated New Orleans 11-3 Thursday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Jason Botts led the way, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
Botts' RBI single in the first put the RedHawks up 1-0. In the fifth with the score tied 3-3, the RedHawks scored five runs on seven hits highlighted by Desi Relaford's three-run homer. A Botts single in the eighth brought in two more, and the RedHawks scored a season high 11 runs.
Oklahoma starter Francisco Cruceta earned a no-decision, lasting only 4.2 innings allowing three runs on five hits. Cruceta tied a season high with eight strikeouts, but he also had a season-high six walks. Steve Rowe (1-0) didn't allow a run in 2.1 innings of relief for the win.
New Orleans was led by Carlos Gomez's two RBIs. Zephyr starter Adam Bostick (2-2) allowed seven runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings for the loss.
The same two teams play again Friday night at 7:05 CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
