Oklahoma City Comets News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City RedHawks and Chesapeake Energy are proud to honor this month's Chesapeake Community All-Star, Jim Lowry of Edmond, during tonight's RedHawks game. Lowry has put in countless hours of service to Peppers Ranch, an organization that provides counseling, activities, and caring adults to abused and neglected foster children.
The Chesapeake Energy Community All-Stars program identifies individuals who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. Chesapeake Energy will be honoring five volunteers and their organizations throughout the 2013 baseball season.
"We're fortunate to live in Oklahoma, which is such a giving and generous place," RedHawks President/General Manager Michael Byrnes said. "The Chesapeake Community All-Stars gives us a chance to highlight certain individuals who do everything in their power to better their communities."
After discovering Peppers Ranch a few years ago, Lowry was determined to get involved. He volunteers several days per week and has been instrumental in establishing the ranch's youth fishing program for boys.
Come see Jim Lowry and watch an informational video about Peppers Ranch following the end of the third inning on this evening when the RedHawks take on the Nashville Sounds.
