Topes Run Express off Track

August 29, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque (73-66) plated a run in the ninth to tie it and again in the eleventh as the Isotopes walked off against the Round Rock Express (72-67) 2-1. Red Patterson shined over seven innings of one-run ball. The middle of the order did most of the damage collecting six of the team's eight hits. Chili Buss (2-for-5) and Alex Castellanos (3-for-4, 2 R) each collected a multi-hit game.

Castellanos launched a one-out triple to the wall in center in a 1-1 tie in the 11th. Brian Barden was intentionally walked to put runners on the corners for Drew Butera. With Butera batting, Ryan Feierabend uncorked a wild pitch allowing Castellanos to race home with the game-winning run.

Barden played the hero, knocking in the first run of the game for the Isotopes in the ninth inning tying the contest at one. Castellanos singled and stole his 19th base of the season, giving Barden a chance to work some ninth-inning Magic. The Isotopes have stolen a base in seven straight games and are 16 away from the franchise record of 178 set in 2003.

Red Patterson allowed a solo home run to Brendan Harris in the second inning. He did not allow another run over his next five frames, even retiring 11 straight batters during one stretch. He finished his outing with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Albuquerque threatened in the second, fourth and sixth putting two runners on base each inning, but failed to score each time.

Onelki Garcia tossed a 1-2-3 eighth, fanning two batters. Peter Moylan added two innings of scoreless baseball as part of a stellar pitching effort to keep Albuquerque in the ballgame. Kelvin De La Cruz (3-1, 2.93) tossed a scoreless eleventh, issuing one walk and earning the win.

Feierabend (6-5, 3.74) suffered the loss tossing two-thirds of inning allowing the game winner.

Albuquerque will complete its final home series of the regular season with the finale of the four-game set against Round Rock tomorrow, August 29 at 6:35 PM. Righty Stephen Fife will take the ball in the opener against Round Rock's Evan Meek. Catch all of the game action on 610 AM "The Sports Animal" with Josh Suchon on the call.
