Reno Aces News Release
TUCSON, Ariz. - Reno carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning for the second-straight night, but the Aces fell 4-3 to the Tucson Padres on Wednesday at Kino Stadium.
Aces starter Mike Bolsinger put three men on through the first four innings, on a pair of walks and a hit by pitch, before finally surrendering a hit in the fifth. Three runs came across to score in the inning, giving the Padres a 3-2 edge.
Bolsinger allowed another run in the sixth, and was tagged with his seventh loss of the season. He allowed four runs on four hits through 6.0 innings, while striking out four. Shawn Camp and David Hernandez shutout Tucson through the final two innings, allowing just a hit and striking out a combined three batters.
Every player in the Aces' starting lineup, with the exception of Matt Davidson, recorded a hit in the game. Bolsinger doubled in the third, and came around to score Reno's first run of the night on a single by Chris Owings.
Reno's leadoff batter Tyler Bortnick went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
The series wraps up Thursday night, in what will be the final game at Kino Stadium. Reno will look to force a series split. RHP Charles Brewer (5-12, 5.09 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Burch Smith (5-1, 3.83 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
