Aliotti's Walk-Off Homer Wins for Cats, 4-3

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA. - Anthony Aliotti hit his second home run of the season in walk-off fashion to lead the River Cats to a 4-3 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Raley Field on Wednesday night.

The Grizzlies got on the scoreboard in the first inning on a Sacramento error that scored Angel Pagan. They added two more runs in the fourth on a two-on, two-out single, and led the River Cats 3-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

Ryan Ortiz scored on a groundout by Andy Parrino, and Hiro Nakajima hit a sacrifice fly that plated Dusty Coleman and the River Cats trailed the Grizzlies by one. Anthony Aliotti hit a sacrifice fly in the next inning that scored Michael Choice and tied the game.

Aliotti hit a 1-0 pitch over the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth to complete the rally for the River Cats, as they took game three from the Grizzlies. He finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored and extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Choice finished 1-for-4 with a run scored, while Ortiz went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Jemile Weeks and Michael Taylor both recorded hits in the win, while Andy Parrino and Hiro Nakajima both tallied an RBI. Taylor also hit his 25th double of the season.

Sacramento collected five hits and only stranded five runners as they rallied from 3-0 to beat the Grizzlies, 4-3.

Sacramento's starter, Arnold Leon, struck out five and walked one, but gave up three earned runs on two hits in 5.2 innings of work. Chris Resop and Mike Zagurski both recorded three strikeouts 2.1 innings of combined scoreless relief. Brian Gordon - the River Cats' new franchise leader for saves in a season - earned his fourth win of the season with his one scoreless ninth inning.

Grizzlies' reliever, Brett Bochy, gave up one unearned run off two hits in two IP and was tagged with the blown save. Closer George Kontos earned his second loss of the season after giving up the walk-off home run to Aliotti in the ninth.

The River Cats will look to lefty Andrew Werner (11-14, 5.89 ERA) for a strong arm in their final home game of the regular season in game four against the Fresno Grizzlies - the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Grizzlies will have right-hander Austin Fleet (1-4, 3.42 ERA) on the mound as the River Cats bring the regular season at Raley Field to an end with Fan Appreciation Day.
