The Oklahoma RedHawks established season highs in runs and hits on Monday in a 7-2 win over the Nashville Sounds at Greer Stadium. The RedHawks improved to 2-3 while Nashville dipped to 1-4.
Oklahoma starter Francisco Cruceta (1-0) went five innings in his season debut, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits, both by Chris Barnwell. Willie Eyre, A.J. Murray and Frank Francisco combined for four scoreless innings, raising the bullpen's season-long scoreless streak to 14.2 innings.
Jason Botts produced his first two RBIs of the year with a pair of run-scoring doubles in a game the RedHawks led from the first inning. Victor Diaz added two RBIs. Ramon Vazquez and Drew Meyer each had two hits.
Nashville starter Yovani Gallardo (0-1), Milwaukee's top prospect, fanned seven RedHawks but allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings in his Triple-A debut.
Lefties John Koronka and Zach Jackson will start game two on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Greer Stadium. The broadcast can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 1340 AM in Oklahoma City and on the RedHawks Radio Network, plus via the internet at milb.com's gameday audio page.
