Memphis batted around a pair of times and handed the New Orleans Zephyrs their largest defeat of the season on Tuesday evening winning 14-3 in a rain shortened game. The game had three rain delays. Rick Ankiel drilled a three run home run in the third inning as part of a three hit four RBI evening for Memphis. Zephyr starter Philip Humber suffered the loss; he worked three innings and allowed four runs. The starter did not return following the second rain delay in the fourth. The Z's bullpen had been outstanding fell apart in the sixth inning allowing six runs. Memphis scored four times in the seventh inning when the contest was called due to the rain. Zephyr catcher Mike Difelice added a pair of hits and hit a two run home run in the seventh.

Game Notes: The game started 55 minutes late due to a rain delay, the first of the season. The teams also a mid game rain delay lasting 22 minutes in the top of the fourth inning. The third rain delay occurred in the 7th inning. The Z's endured nine rain delays last season. The Z's Carlos Gomez has a hit in all six Zephyrs games, he is tied for the league lead with five stolen bases. The Z's announced that Jorge Sosa is the probable starter for the home opener on Friday vs. Nashville.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs (4-2) and Memphis Redbirds (4-2) will meet in the third game of the series on Wednesday at 7:10. Series is tied at one. New Orleans will start Jason Vargas (0-0) against RH Mike Smith ...Radio: WIST AM 690 ...
