Oklahoma City Comets News Release

The most impressive RedHawks swing of the year came off the bat of Estaban German, his three run walk-off home run capped off a comeback victory for OKC who found themselves trailing 9-0 in the sixth inning to the Redbirds. The 10-9 win was Oklahoma City's first ninth-inning come-from-behind win of the year.

The RedHawks sat in a nine run deficit at the bottom of the sixth inning. Chad Tracy homered (8) and Memphis committed four errors as the RedHawks plated four.

OKC continued to peck at the lead. Brandon Boggs circled the bases with a two-run home run (7) in the eighth inning and the Memphis lead was trimmed to three.

Chad Tracy and Andy Jenkins walked to begin the ninth, Hernan Iribarren singled to score Tracy and the RedHawks were within two. The Redbirds then made a pitching change handing the ball off to Josh Kinney. The first pitch out of the hand of Kinney was clobbered by German, a no doubter to left field, his first of the year, which brought the RedHawks tearing out of the dugout awaiting his arrival at home plate.

Left-hander Michael Kirkman (L, 5-2) struggled through 4.2 innings of work, allowing ten hits and six earned runs.

Zach Phillips quieted the Redbirds for 1.2 innings advancing his scoreless inning streak to 11 innings. Phillips has not allowed a run in a RedHawk uniform.

Memphis leads the series two games to one.

Oklahoma City and Memphis will conclude their four-game set Friday evening at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Michael Ballard (3-3, 5.17) and Brandon Dickson (5-3, 3.38) are slated to pitch for the RedHawks and Redbirds respectively with a first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
