RedHawks Send River Cats to Third Straight Loss

Sacramento, Calif. - Jordan Lyles allowed one run in seven and two-thirds innings while three different hitters knocked in a run leading the Oklahoma City RedHawks (19-22) to a 3-1 win over the Sacramento River Cats 26-16) before 9,628 Friday night at Raley Field.

Lyles (2-3) allowed one run and six hits with one walk and four strikeouts in seven and two-thirds innings for the winning decision. Lyles pitched his longest outing of the season in innings and pitches (108, 74 strikes). The 20-year-old has made quality starts in five of his last six starts. Travis Banwart (1-3) allowed two runs and eight hits with eight strikeouts over six innings in the losing decision. David Carpenter (1) saved the game with a perfect one and one-thirds innings effort.

The RedHawks opened the scoring in the fifth inning. Tommy Manzella reached on an infield single, moved to second on an Anderson Hernandez single and scored on a J.B. Shuck hit for a 1-0 score.

In the sixth inning Max Ramirez doubled with one out and scored on a single from Robinson Cancel, opening a 2-0 RedHawks lead.

Oklahoma City added a third run in the eighth inning against reliever Andrew Carignan. Brandon Barnes tripled and scored on a Jeff Keppinger sacrifice fly for a 3-0 score.

Sacramento broke through against Lyles in the bottom of the eighth inning. Wes Timmons led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out and scored on a two-out double to the right field corner by Michael Taylor for a 3-1 score.
