Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants, announced today that they are launching the Gus Zernial Ambassador Program. The Program is designed to send faithful and enthusiastic Grizzlies Community Fund (GCF) supporters into the community to motivate and challenge Central Valley residents to get involved with the GCF.
Ambassadors will be assigned to represent the Grizzlies Community Fund throughout a geographically bounded region in the Central Valley. They will act as community cheerleaders, helping spread the word of the service done by Gus Zernial by creating excitement about the many programs that the GCF has created over the last decade to serve our community.
The Program is named after Zernial, the original Grizzlies Ambassador and the man most instrumental in the process that brought the Grizzlies to Downtown Fresno. His tireless efforts both before, and after the construction of Chukchansi Park were essential aspects of the Grizzlies' success in Fresno.
"We cannot think of anyone else who better exemplifies the spirit of the Ambassador Program than Gus," said Grizzlies President & CEO Chris Cummings. "Gus' love of baseball and our community define the purpose of this Program."
To find out about the requirements for and the benefits of becoming an Ambassador, please contact the Grizzlies at 559.320.4487 or at ambassadors@fresnogrizzlies.com.
The GCF was created in 2004 to help assist, reward and support community outreach initiatives. In addition to "Wild About Reading", one of the largest educational initiatives in professional sports, the GCF also manages the Grizzlies Baseball Camp and the Junior Grizzlies, a baseball league for athletes with special needs. To find out more about the GCF or to make a donation, please call 559.320.4487.
The Fresno Grizzlies return to Chukchansi Park for eight games starting Thursday, May 19th, when they welcome the New Orleans Zephyrs to downtown Fresno. Tickets are available now at the Chukchansi Park Box Office, online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com or by calling 559-320-TIXS.
