Kansas City Monarchs News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones (13-19) were unable to complete a ninth-inning rally as they fell to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (15-16), 4-3, in front of 7,396 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Justin Justice started the third with a solo home run off of Justin James (2-4) to give the RedHawks an early 1-0 advantage. After a leadoff single by Carlo Cota in the fifth, Justice hit his second home run of the evening to extend the Fargo lead to three.
Yurendell DeCaster hit a solo home run to begin the sixth, capping the scoring on the night for the RedHawks. Scott Fogelsen (2-2) left the game in favor of Mike Finocchi after pitching five and one-thirds scoreless innings, allowing three hits in the win.
Mark Minicozzi got the T-Bones on the board with a leadoff homer in the seventh, his second hit in 32 at-bats against Fargo this season. James was replaced by Dustin Bolton after surrendering four runs on nine hits over six innings in the loss. Bolton finished the game with two scoreless innings, retiring six of the seven batters he faced.
Aharon Eggleston walked with one out in the ninth to set up a two-run shot by Damian Rolls off Adam Rowe which cut the Fargo lead to one. Elvys Quezada entered with two outs in the ninth and induced a flyout to secure his second save of the season. Quezada has made five appearances this season, all coming in relief against the T-Bones.
On the mound tomorrow will be Ryan Knippschild (1-1, 3.41) for Kansas City in an attempt to prevent a sweep by Yosandy Ibanez (1-2, 3.48) and the RedHawks. First pitch is set for 5:05. Single-game tickets for the T-Bones are still available and start at just $6. For more information, call 913-328-5618 or visit www.tbonesbaseball.com
