RedHawks Go Deep Three Times in 9-5 Win

Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (26-19) hit three home runs and the bullpen allowed just one run over four innings to lead the way to a 9-5 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (23-22) before 7,047 Tuesday night at Security Service Field.

The Sky Sox scored a pair of two-out runs in the first to take an early 2-0 lead. It didn't last long, as the RedHawks took the lead in the third. With two on and none out, Brett Wallace hit a homer to center field to put the RedHawks in front, 3-2. It was Wallace's third homer in his last four games.

Jimmy Paredes led off the third inning with a solo homer to extend the lead to two runs. Fernando Martinez followed with a double, and two batters later, Scott Moore flied out to the wall in center field. Martinez scored all the way from second base on the play to make it 5-2.

Colorado Springs scored twice more with two outs in the third courtesy of a Chris Nelson RBI double and an RBI single by Andrew Brown to pull back within one.

The game stayed 5-4 until the seventh. Moore collected an RBI double to put the RedHawks ahead by two. The Sky Sox loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the inning, but Xavier Cedeno limited Colorado Springs to just one run, keeping the RedHawks in front.

The RedHawks put the game away in the ninth inning when Brad Snyder connected on a three-run homer to make it 9-5. Over the first six games of the road trip, the RedHawks have now belted 15 home runs.

Paul Clemens earned his third straight win to improve to 5-3. Clemens pitched five-plus innings, allowing four runs and eight hits. He struck out four and walked one.

Along with Cedeno, Sergio Perez and David Carpenter combined to allow just one run and three hits over the final four innings. Cedeno and Perez inherited a total of five runners and only allowed one to score.

Colorado Springs starting pitcher Edgar Gonzalez (2-2) took the loss, surrendering five runs and six hits over four innings. He struck out four and walked one.
