Seven-Run Frame Pushes Aces to 9-5 Victory

RENO, Nev.-The Aces scored seven times in the fourth inning Tuesday, flipping an early deficit into a lead they wouldn't let slip away, earning 9-5 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs at Aces Ballpark.
Reno fell behind 3-0 in the first inning, then had to turn the ball over to the bullpen early when starter Barry Enright was ejected in the third. Down 5-1 in the fourth, though, the Aces answered with a season-high seven runs-including a go-ahead, three-run, pinch-hit home run off the bat of Mike Jacobs. Reno ended that frame with an 8-5 lead and never trailed again.
Enright worked 2.1 frames before his ejection, surrendering four runs on six hits over 2.1 innings. After his exit, four Aces relievers combined to hold the Zephyrs to just a run over the game's final 6.2 innings. Bryan Woodall (2-1)-the first reliever of the day-earned the win.
The loss fell to New Orleans starter J.D. Martin (2-4), who surrendered six runs on five hits over 3.2 innings of work.
At the plate for Reno, A.J. Pollock continued his torrid stretch since rejoining the Aces, collecting three hits, a run and an RBI. Ryan Wheeler hit his fourth triple of the season, and Reno was successful on each of its four stolen-base attempts.
The Aces look to seal a series victory Wednesday night at Aces Ballpark. Diamondbacks No. 1 prospect RHP Trevor Bauer (1-0, 1.13 ERA) makes his second-career Triple-A start for Reno, while the Zephyrs will counter with RHP Alex Sanabia (3-3, 2.78 ERA). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. PT, and it'll be another Aces WINSday, with a 30 percent discount on any one full priced item in the Aces Team Shop on the line.
