Today's Game: After splitting yesterday's doubleheader, the RedHawks finish their eight-game homestand on a Fireworks Friday against the Round Rock Express at 7:05 p.m.

Yesterday: The RedHawks and Express split the first doubleheader at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark since Sept. 2, 2010. The RedHawks took Game 1, 5-3, and the Express won the nightcap, 8-4. Jonathan Villar and Marc Krauss did most of the damage in the first game, combining to go 5-for-6 with two RBI and four runs. Jose Cisnero (1-1) earned his first win of the season, and Jose Valdez converted his third save. Game 2 was closely contested for most of the night. After the RedHawks took an early 1-0 lead, the Express scored twice in the second and once more in the fifth. Round Rock seemingly put the game away with five runs in the top of the seventh, but the RedHawks scored three times and brought the tying run to the plate with one out in the bottom of the inning before Cory Burns struck out the next two batters to end the game.

Today's Probable Pitchers: Jordan Lyles heads to the mound, coming off a nice start last time out...On Sunday against Memphis, Lyles tossed five solid innings, allowing two runs and five hits with no walks and three strikeouts...He retired 12 of the first 14 hitters he faced and threw just 59 pitches...Lyles left with a 3-2 lead, but Memphis scored eight unanswered runs after his exit and won, 10-3...Through his first three outings, Lyles has done a good job keeping the ball on the ground, averaging about three groundouts for every flyout...Lyles has made one career start against the Express, tossing seven scoreless inning on Apr. 23, 2011 at The Dell Diamond...He and current Express pitcher Ross Wolf combined on a five-hit shutout in a 5-0 RedHawks victory...Lyles also made six starts for the Express when they were the Astros' Triple-A affiliate...He was 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA, but he was just 19 years old at the time.

There is no designated "second starter" following Lyles tonight.

Against the Express: 2013: 1-2 2012: 10-6 All-time: 69-61 In OKC: 35-32

The RedHawks won 10 of 16 meetings with the Express in 2012, including six of eight at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...The RedHawks hit .294 as a team...Scott Moore led the way with a .400 average and 12 RBI in just eight games...12 of the last 14 games between the two squads have been decided by three runs or less, including seven by one or two runs...The RedHawks have not lost the season series in five of the last six years...Round Rock is once again led by Bobby Jones, the legendary RedHawks skipper who compiled 595 wins and five division titles over eight seasons. (He also managed the team when they were the 89ers in 1993-1994.)

Pitching Problems: The RedHawks have allowed 47 runs through the first seven games of the homestand and their 79 runs allowed total the second-most among American Conference teams. Opponents have scored at least seven times in eight of the first 14 games. Last season, only one opponent scored at least seven runs in a game through the first 14 contests. Also, they didn't give up at least seven for the eighth time until May 7--the 32nd game of the year.

New Crowe Medicine Show: After going hitless in the first two games of the season, Trevor Crowe has hit safely in each of the last 12 games (.362, 17x47). It's the longest hit streak of his career since an 18-game streak May 25-July 16, 2009 with the Columbus Clippers. He and Jake Elmore are the only teammates in the PCL this season to each have hit streaks of 10 games or longer. Going back to last season while playing for Salt Lake, Crowe has reached base safely in 35 consecutive games in the PCL. The current streak started against the RedHawks on Aug. 7.

Heckuva Homestand: Marc Krauss has hit safely in each of the first seven games of the homestand (.375, 9x24). Even more impressively, Krauss has racked up 13 RBI in Oklahoma City, driving in at least one run in six times. In five of the seven games he's had at least two RBI. He has catapulted to the team lead with 16 RBI, which is also tied for fourth in the PCL.

Jake Takes the Cake: Jake Elmore had his 12-game hit streak snapped last night after going 0-for-3. During the streak he hit .449 and it included a pair of games with at least four hits. Overall he has hit safely 12 of 14 contests, but has reached base safely at least once every game. His .407 average currently ranks seventh in the league. Last season Elmore recorded a PCL-best 31-game hitting streak and 46-game on-base streak while playing with Reno.

Better on the Bases: The RedHawks stole five bases during the doubleheader and have swiped nine in the series. They have been successful in 12 of their last 14 attempts after getting off to a 6-for-14 start to the season.

Power Outage: The RedHawks have not homered in five straight games and are tied with Round Rock for the second-least homers in the PCL with eight. The last time they were held at least five straight games without a home run was Aug. 10-19, 2011 (9 games).

Just Playing Catch: None of the final seven batters of Game 2 last night put the ball in play. After consecutive singles to start the bottom of the seventh, there were three walks, three strikeouts, and a hit batsman.

Homestand Help Wanted: Regardless of tonight's result, the RedHawks will end up with a losing homestand. They had only one losing homestand last season and never won less than three games during any homestand in 2012.
