Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-LHP Tyler Skaggs dealt a quality start on Thursday night, but the Aces fell 4-2 to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Aces Ballpark.
Skaggs and Sky Sox LHP Drew Pomeranz each faced the minimum through the first three innings of the contest.
DJ LeMahieu singled with one out for Colorado Springs in the top of the fourth to register the first hit of the game. LeMahieu made it home on the very next play, as Corey Dickerson tripled to left field and advanced home on a missed catch error by shortstop Chris Owings.
The Sky Sox extended their lead to 3-0 in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by former Aces infielder Tommy Manzella.
Reno jumped on the board for the first time in the bottom of the frame when Tuffy Gosewisch's two-out double drove in Tyler Kuhn. The Aces drove in another run in the bottom of the eighth off the bat of Kila Ka'aihue.
Colorado Springs added an insurance run in the top of the ninth to take a 4-2 lead. The Aces had the tying run at the plate after Evan Frey singled with two outs, but Gosewisch struck out to end the game.
Gosewisch and Ka'aihue each collected two hits on the night for Reno.
Skaggs, who registered a season-high 8 strikeouts, was charged with the loss for Reno. He gave up two earned runs on six hits through 7.0 innings pitched.

Reliever Rob Scahill, who threw 3.1 innings of relief, was credited with his first save of the season. Scahill gave up two earned runs on five hits, while striking out five.
