Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - After waiting out a five hour, 17 minute rain delay, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks defeated the Kansas City T-Bones 8-1 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. Fargo-Moorhead took three-of-four games in the series and now hold a one-game edge over the T-Bones at the top of the Northern League standings.

Fargo-Moorhead (43-30) starting pitcher Jake Laber (8-3) pitched seven strong innings, allowing Kansas City only one run on six hits. The southpaw also struck out two and did not issue a walk.

Kansas City (43-32) starter Cody McAllister (9-5) was matching Laber pitch-for-pitch in the early innings. McAllister was perfect through five but allowed a walk to Alan Rick and an RBI-single to Mike Coles in the sixth to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.

Fargo-Moorhead was able to break the game open in the home half of the seventh. Third basemen Eric Campbell led off the inning with a walk and scored on Jesse Hoorelbeke's double to deep center field. Jay Cox and Rick followed with RBI singles to make the score 4-1.

The RedHawks strung together four straight hits, including a two-RBI double from Cox, to help push four more runs across in the eighth and ice the ballgame.

Fargo-Moorhead's Cox was 2-for-4 on the night with two RBI and also scored a pair of runs. Rick and Cota each went 2-for-3 for the RedHawks with Rick driving in a pair of runs.

Kansas City's Jim Fasano hit his 15th home run of the season in the seventh inning to account for the only T-Bone run.

The RedHawks will hit the road for a series at Winnipeg starting tomorrow night while Kansas City will return home to take on Rockford.
