\'Hawks Take Third Straight From \'Hammers

August 12, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Joliet JackHammers News Release

Kyle Ruwe set the tone with eight innings of one run ball as the Rockford RiverHawks (37-37) took their third straight from the Joliet JackHammers (37-37) in a 6-1 victory Wednesday night at Road Ranger Stadium. The JackHammers dropped into a three way tie for the fourth and final playoff spot with Rockford and Winnipeg.

Rockford plated three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to back Ruwe (5-6). John Wagle broke up a scoreless game with a two run double in the fifth off Devin Anderson (3-4). Jason James added a single to score Wagle and put the RiverHawks up 3-0.

Anderson departed after the fifth, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Kyle Dahman came on and surrendered three runs (two earned) in the sixth.

Travis Scott and Evan McArthur started the sixth with back-to-back doubles and Jono Brooks would reach on a sacrifice bunt after Dahman bobbled the ball for the error. Jake Eigsti smacked a double to right center for the 6-0 lead.

Ruwe would allow his only run of the night in the eighth on a Roberto Mena solo home run. The right-hander stifled the JackHammers over eight innings, allowing only three hits and the one run.

The JackHammers will look to snap a three game losing streak tomorrow night when Bear Bay (5-5) takes the bump. The RiverHawks will counter with Raymar Diaz (0-0), who was recently acquired from St. George in the Golden League. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. with a 6:55 p.m. pre-game show on 1340 WJOL.
