LOVES PARK, Ill. - Jason James hit a two-run walkoff double on Thursday as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Joliet Jackhammers, 7-6, at Road Ranger Stadium.

The RiverHawks, who have won eight straight, took sole possession of the fourth and final Northern League playoff spot. Rockford began the day in a three-way tie with Joliet and Winnipeg. The Goldeyes lost, 10-2, to visiting Gary.

James and Vic Butler were each 3-for-5.

Rockford won its second walkoff of the four-game series and its fourth walkoff win in six home games - all victories - against the Jackhammers this year.

Joliet lost leads of 4-0 and 6-5. The Jackhammers rallied for two two-out runs off closer Scott Roehl in the ninth inning. Roehl threw a game-tying wild pitch, then surrendered Brad Correll's go-ahead home run to left field.

With one out in the bottom of the ninth, Joliet closer Griffin Bailey (2-4) walked Bud Long. Butler singled Long to second base. James lined a hit to the fence in left field to drive in the tying and winning runs.

Roehl (5-1) got his second win of the series.

The RiverHawks visit Kansas City for a three-game series this weekend, beginning at 7:05 p.m. Friday.
