RedHawks Drop A 7-1 Decision

HIGHLIGHTS: The Oklahoma RedHawks dropped a 7-1 decision to the Memphis Redbirds Sunday afternoon to split their four-game set at two games apiece. The RedHawks managed just three hits and six base runners against four Redbird pitchers.

Memphis notched three runs on Oklahoma starter Sidney Ponson in the third inning; one on the solo home run by Colby Rasmus to lead off the inning and a pair on Amaury Marti's second home run of the series. Memphis added a run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Gabe Johnson.

Nate Gold hit a one-out solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to plate the lone Oklahoma run. The RedHawks scored twice on Kameron Loe in the seventh and once on Wes Littleton in the eighth to round out the afternoon. John Wasdin (1-0) pitched six solid innings to earn the win, while Ponson (0-1) was saddled with the loss. Memphis outscored Oklahoma 21-18 in the series, and outhit the RedHawks 41-30.

The RedHawks open a four-game series with the Nashville Sounds at 7:05 Monday evening at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.
