
Beavers transfer McDougall to San Antonio, add Jody Gerut

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today transferred infielder Marshall McDougall to Class AA San Antonio and added outfielder Jody Gerut to the active roster.
McDougall, 29, was 1-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored in two games with the Beavers to start the season. The infielder signed with the Padres as minor league free agent on Dec. 7, 2007, and is currently in his ninth professional season.
Gerut, who was optioned to Portland on Saturday, played in four of the Padres' first five games of the 2008 campaign, going 1-for-6. In 324 major league games, he has batted .263 with 75 doubles, eight triples, 34 home runs, 140 RBIs, 153 runs and 109 walks with Cleveland (2003-2005), the Chicago Cubs (2005), Pittsburgh (2005) and San Diego (2008). Gerut, who signed a minor league contract with San Diego on Jan. 27, made the Padres Opening Day roster as a non-roster invitee.
With today's moves, the Beavers' active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
