Memphis Redbirds News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The first-place Memphis Redbirds (73-44) turned a 3-0 deficit into an 8-3 lead en route to an 8-4 triumph at the Oklahoma City Dodgers (Dodgers) Friday night in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Redbirds were held hitless through four innings before exploding for a six-spot in the top of the fifth and a 6-3 lead in the blink of an eye. Patrick Wisdom had two hits in the inning, doubling and scoring to start the inning and then contributing an RBI single to plate the sixth run of the frame. Rehabbing Tyler O'Neill hit a two-run double to give the Redbirds their first lead of the game at 4-3, and Carson Kelly and Wisdom followed with run-scoring singles to finish the scoring in the inning.
Memphis got two more in the top of the sixth to make the score 8-3, with Rangel Ravelo extending his hitting streak to 15 games with a two-out, two-run single.
Wisdom finished 3-for-4, and Ramon Urias and Edmundo Sosa had two-hit games for the Redbirds. Lane Thomas' 10-game hitting streak came to a close, but he walked and scored a run in the contest.
Oklahoma City scored a fourth run in the bottom of the sixth, which chased Memphis starter Connor Jones from the game after 5.2 innings. He gave up four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and two walks, but Giovanny Gallegos finished the inning and then fired a scoreless seventh.
Tommy Layne and Edward Mujica shut the door with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Jones got his first-career Triple-A win after his outing.
The game was delayed for 1:02 at the onset due to inclement weather.
The Redbirds have two more games in Oklahoma City before returning to AutoZone Park on Monday to start a seven-game homestand. For more information on single-game tickets, visit www.memphisredbirds.com.
