Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers continue their home series against the Memphis Redbirds at 7:05 p.m. The Dodgers are teaming up with MidFirst Bank to "Pack the Park Pink" to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Dodgers players and coaches will take the field wearing special pink jerseys, hats and cleats that will be auctioned off during the game, and the evening will culminate with a pink fireworks show...The Dodgers have lost three straight games and five of their last six contests.
Last Game: A RBI double by Patrick Wisdom in the top of the ninth inning pushed Memphis to a 2-1 win against the Dodgers Thursday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The teams entered the ninth inning of their series opener in a 1-1 tie. Rangel Ravelo led off with a single and Carson Kelly notched another hit two batters later. Wisdom then hit a broken-bat fly ball to left field that went off Henry Ramos' glove, resulting in a double that allowed Ravelo to score. OKC's lone run of the night came in the first inning. Tim Locastro led off with a double, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a RBI groundout by Connor Joe for a 1-0 lead. The Redbirds tied the game in the fifth inning on a solo homer by Edmundo Sosa. Daniel Corcino pitched a season-high seven innings, allowing one run and four hits. He did not issue a walk and recorded a season-high nine strikeouts. Rehabbing St. Louis Cardinals reliever Dominic Leone (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth inning and was credited with the win. Andrew Morales held the Dodgers scoreless in the ninth inning for his fifth save. Joe Broussard (4-4) entered the game to pitch for the Dodgers in the eighth inning and was charged with the loss, allowing the Redbirds' winning run in the ninth.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Kyle Lobstein (0-2) makes his third start of the season with the Dodgers...He last pitched for OKC Aug. 4 in Reno and was charged with the loss, allowing five runs and nine hits over 5.1 IP with one walk and three strikeouts in the team's 5-2 defeat...Lobstein signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers June 22 and has also made seven starts for Double-A Tulsa, posting a 3-2 record and 2.56 ERA over 38.2 IP. He issued nine walks against 25 strikeouts and owned a 2.2/1 groundout-to-flyout ratio...Lobstein started the season with Toros de Tijuana of the Mexican Baseball League, making 11 starts and going 4-2 with a 2.95 ERA. He issued 19 walks and racked up 49 K's over 58.0 IP. He tied for the team lead in innings and starts and held opponents to two runs for less in 10 starts...Lobstein made his MLB debut Aug. 23, 2014 with Detroit against Minnesota and has made 34 MLB appearances (17 starts) for Detroit (20 games) and Pittsburgh (14 games), going a combined 6-10 with a 5.06 ERA over 128.0 IP with 49 walks and 74 K's...He was originally selected by Tampa Bay in the second round (47th overall) of the 2008 MLB Draft from Coconino High School in Flagstaff, Ariz...Tonight is Lobstein's third career appearance and first career start against the Redbirds after making two relief appearances while with New Orleans last season (2.0 IP, 2 H, R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 0 K).
Against the Redbirds: 2018: 5-8 2017: 8-7 All-time: 173-159 At OKC: 97-66 The Dodgers and Redbirds are meeting for their final series of the season and second of the season at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark...Memphis won the last series between the teams, 3-1, at AutoZone Park May 21-24, ending a streak of five consecutive series splits between the teams...The first three series this season were in May, with the teams splitting each of their first two, April 30-May 3 in Memphis and May 8-11 in OKC...Memphis has narrowly outscored the Dodgers, 53-51, through 13 meetings...The Dodgers have pitched shutouts in three of the five wins...On May 10 during an 8-4 victory, the Dodgers set a Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark record with six home runs in one game...The Dodgers have won five consecutive season series against Memphis, and OKC has not lost a season series to the Redbirds since 2011, but they will need to win the next three games to keep that streak intact.
Bat Breaker: After scoring a combined 17 runs on 33 hits Sunday and Monday, the Dodgers have been held to three runs over their last two games, scoring in just two of 18 innings...Thursday's 2-1 defeat marked the eighth time in the last 12 games the Dodgers were held to two runs or less...Yesterday OKC went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Dodgers have tallied 34 hits over the last three games, but are 5-for-34 with RISP during that time...Last night the Dodgers went 2-for-16 with runners on base, and going back to Tuesday, they are 3-for-the-last-25 with runners on...The offensive issues have been even more prevalent at home. In the team's last five games in Bricktown, the Dodgers have batted just .210 (34x162) and have scored a total of nine runs, with two or fewer runs in each game. That includes a .176 clip with RISP (6x34) and just one solo home run. They've scored past the second inning only twice and past the fourth inning only once.
Teach Me How to Dugie: Alex Verdugo picked up his team-leading 28th multi-hit game of the season last night, going 2-for-4 against Memphis...Verdugo has hit safely in 20 of his last 22 games with the OKC Dodgers, batting .390 (32x82) with nine multi-hit games and 10 RBI. He paces the PCL with a .347 season batting average and leads OKC with 100 hits in 74 games...Verdugo has reached base in eight of his last 12 appearances as well as nine of his last 14 plate appearances. His .398 OBP leads the team and ranks ninth in the PCL.
Farming for Doubles: Kyle Farmer doubled for a fourth straight game last night as he picked up his team-leading 23rd double of the season. He has six doubles in his last eight games and 16 doubles in 30 games with OKC since July 1 - tied for most in the Minors with Seth Brown of the Double-A Midland RockHounds...One-third of his 69 total hits with OKC (60 games) this season are doubles.
For Whom the Bell Toles: Andrew Toles grounded out in his only at-bat as a pinch hitter last night, snapping a five-game hitting streak. Over his last six games, Toles is now 7-for-18. He's hit safely in 16 of his last 17 starts and in 16 of his last 19 games overall with OKC. Since July 7, he is batting .369 (24x65) with seven multi-hit outings.
"Pen Out of Ink: Over the last six games, the Dodgers bullpen has given up 21 runs over 15.0 innings, with opponents batting .413 (31x75) with four home runs...Opponents have been doing most of their damage in the latter stages of the game recently against OKC, scoring 26 of the 43 runs the Dodgers have allowed over the last six games in the sixth inning or later.
Around the Horn: Daniel Corcino's nine strikeouts last night marked his highest strikeout total since May 20, 2012 while pitching for Double-A Pensacola. He combined with reliever Joe Broussard for 13 total punchouts, marking OKC's highest strikeout total since recording 15 K's June 6 at Sacramento...The Dodgers have not allowed a walk in back-to-back games for the second time this season and for the first time since April 29 against Iowa and April 30 at Memphis. On the other hand, the team did not draw a walk last night for the 10th time this season...The Dodgers have not hit a home run in five of the last six games. They've been kept inside the park in three straight games and are one game shy of matching their longest homer-less streak of the season (2x).
