Redbirds Slug Way to 11-5 Win in Series Finale

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The Memphis Redbirds (46-30) banged out 15 hits and scored 11 runs Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park to secure a third win over the New Orleans Baby Cakes (Marlins) in the four-game series.

Rangel Ravelo was 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, and Adolis Garcia also drove in four runs and had a home run. Wilfredo Tovar scored three runs and stole three bases.

In his last three games, Ravelo is 9-for-11 with six RBI. Edmundo Sosa played his first-career Triple-A game and had a single and scored a run.

Kevin Herget started and worked 6.0 one-run innings, striking out seven without a walk. He allowed just four hits.

Memphis led 3-0 and then 7-1 before the clubs traded four-run innings in the eighth. With Memphis leading 11-5, Tommy Layne came on and allowed two hits but struck out two in a scoreless ninth.

Memphis converted with runners in scoring position, going 7-for-13.
