Redbirds Secure Winning Homestand with Win over Stripers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds concluded a 13-game homestand and a seven-game series with a 7-6 win over the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A, Atlanta Braves) on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park.

Memphis was able to scrape together three crooked numbers offensively in the win. The Redbirds grabbed a two-run lead in the second inning on three hits. Memphis scored two runs on three hits to tie the game in the sixth and three runs to take a 7-4 lead on four hits in the seventh. Five of the 11 Redbirds hits on Sunday afternoon were doubles.

Second baseman Cesar Prieto led the way with his 15th multi-hit game and seventh three-hit game of the season. The left-handed hitter finished the game 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a double. First baseman Luken Baker doubled off the top of the left-field wall twice. Baker went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

Sem Robberse (5-2) allowed six runs on six hits, walked four and struck out six in 7.0-plus innings pitched. Two of inherited runners scored in the top of the eighth inning off of Connor Thomas (S, 2) who did not allow a run of his own in 2.0 innings.

The Memphis Redbirds return to AutoZone Park to begin a six-game homestand against the Nashville Sounds on Tuesday, May 28 with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
