Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis erased an early two-run deficit to beat New Orleans 7-2 Saturday night at AutoZone Park in front of a season-high 11,856 fans.
After New Orleans scored two runs in the first inning, the Redbirds rallied for two runs without a hit in the fourth inning to tie the game. Memphis starter Adam Ottavino helped his cause driving in the go-ahead run in the fifth, hitting into a double play with the bases loaded. The âBirds later put the game away in the eighth scoring four runs, including Allen Craig's three-run homer. Craig finished the night with four RBI and Jim Rapoport had two hits to lead the âBirds. Danny Richar had three hits to lead the Zephyrs.
Ottavino earned his fifth win of the year for Memphis in his first start since rejoining the club earlier this week. After allowing two runs on four hits in the first, Ottavino allowed just two hits and fanned five over his final 5.2 innings. Burke Badenhop was pegged with the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in his two innings of relief. Oneli Perez worked the final two frames for the âBirds to notch his third save of the year.
