Game Keys - Allen Craig drilled a three run homerun and drove in four runs in the Memphis Redbirds 7-2 win over the Zephyrs in front of 11,856 fans in Memphis on Saturday night. Memphis starter Adam Ottavino pitched 6.2 innings and earned the win his first start for the Birds since returning from the Majors. The Z's jumped on Memphis early with two first inning runs. Memphis tied the game without the benefit of a hit in the fourth inning. Craig's home run off of reliever Chris Leroux put the game away in the eighth. The Z's pitchers walked seven in the game. Burke Badenhop suffered the loss in relief.
Game Notes- The first pitch temperature of 97 degrees was a season high. Wes Whisler started the game and became the 13th Zephyr pitcher to start a game this season for the Z's. Whisler worked 3 innings and allowed 2 runs on one hit and two walks. Seth Fortenberry pinch hit single improved him to two hits in two at bats for New Orleans. It was Salute to the Negro Leagues Night in Memphis, the Redbirds wore uniforms for the Memphis Red Sox and the Zephyrs sported the Homestead Grays uniforms.
