Redbirds Drop Third Straight

NASHVILLE, Tennessee - The Memphis Redbirds (19-11) lost their third-straight game to put the club on a season-long losing streak, falling 4-2 to the Nashville Sounds (Athletics) Saturday night in Nashville, Tenn.
The Redbirds have scored just three runs on their three-game skid.
Tyler O'Neill homered for the seventh time this season and first since returning from the St. Louis Cardinals, and he finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. The Redbirds outhit the Sounds, 10-8, but were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left five runners on base. Max Schrock was 2-for-4 and is now on a five-game hitting streak.
Yairo Munoz had a knock to extend his streak to six-straight contests.
Austin Gomber made his first start since tying a franchise record with 16 strikeouts, and he fanned nine more but took the loss. He allowed four runs on six hits in 5.1 innings. Sean Gilmartin and Arturo Reyes pitched the final 2.2 innings for the Redbirds.
Daniel Gossett, who was scheduled to start for Nashville but was scratched due to the threat of rain, got the win with 7.0 innings of relief, allowing just one run. He struck out nine Redbirds.
The Redbirds continue their series with Nashville tomorrow at 2:05 p.m. and will stay on their road trip through Friday at Oklahoma City.
