RHP Tim Lincecum to Join Round Rock Express on Monday

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced on Friday evening that two-time Cy Young Award Winner RHP Tim Lincecum will join the Round Rock Express on a major league rehab assignment beginning on Monday, May 7. The Express host the Iowa Cubs at Dell Diamond at 7:05 p.m.
Lincecum has been on the disabled list since March 29 with a blister on his right middle finger. The four-time All-Star was signed to a major league contract by the Rangers on March 7. He opened the 2018 season on the 10-day disabled list before being transferred to the 60-day disabled list on April 15.
The 33-year-old was originally drafted 10th overall by the San Francisco Giants in the 2006 MLB Draft. He spent parts of just two seasons in the minor leagues before making his major league debut in 2007. Lincecum helped the Giants to three World Series Championships in 2010, 2012 and 2014. He was named the National League Cy Young Award Winner in 2008 and 2009.
Lincecum led the National League in strikeouts for three consecutive seasons from 2008-2010 and threw a pair of no hitters in 2013 and 2014. After electing free agency following the end of the 2015 season, Lincecum was signed by the Los Angeles Angels on May 20, 2016. Following time with both the Angels and the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees, Lincecum again elected free agency at the end of the 2017 season.
The Round Rock Express and Iowa Cubs conclude their four-game series on Monday evening. E-Train RHP Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-3, 4.10) is scheduled to start against I-Cubs RHP Jen-Ho Tseng (0-4, 8.04). The Express welcome the New Orleans Baby Cakes to town for a four-game series beginning on Tuesday, May 8.
