
Redbirds close out home slate for 2006

Memphis Redbirds News Release
THE OPPOSITION: The Redbirds are set to host the Round Rock Express and the Nashville Sounds in a nine-game homestand to close out the home portion of the 2006 schedule at AutoZone Park. Memphis will take on the Express Saturday, August 19th through Tuesday, August 20th. The 'Birds will face their in-state rivals from Nashville in a five game series Wednesday, August 23rd through Sunday, August 27th. Round Rocks sits atop the American South Division standings while Nashville leads the American North. The Redbirds are 5-3 against the Express this season but just 3-8 versus the Sounds.
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS: The Redbirds will open the final homestand of 2006 with Round Rock on Saturday, August 19th. Sunday, August 20th the Zooperstars will be on hand to entertain fans at AutoZone Park. Fans can also follow along with the game and win great prizes by playing FUNGO on Sunday and kids can run the bases like a Redbird after the game. AutoZone Park will the Rock 103 Great Unsigned Showcase Summer Concert Series featuring "Yes, No, Maybe" on Monday, August 21st following the game. Tuesday, August 22nd is another Time Warner Tuesday with a special giveaway to the first 1,500 fans courtesy of Time Warner. Also, Tuesday, the finals of the Kix 106 Karaoke Contest will be held in the entry plaza before the game. The winner of the contest will receive 2007 season tickets. Wednesday, August 23rd is Working Money Wednesday. The first 1,500 fans will receive an envelope sealed with cash courtesy of First Tennessee. The winners of the Rock 103 Great Unsigned Showcase Summer Concert Series will perform in the entry plaza following the game Friday, August 25th. There will be a Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, August 26th and the infamous Duck Pond Day will return for the final home game of the season on Sunday, August 27th. The winner of the 2006 Redbirds Raffle will be announced at the game on Saturday, August 27th. All FUNGO winners for 2006 were entered into a drawing for 2007 season tickets courtesy of the Memphis Redbirds and the winner will be announced on Sunday, August 27th.
GIVE IT AWAY: The Redbirds and First Tennessee will treat fans to the final Working Money Wednesday of the season on Wednesday, August 23rd. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive an envelope containing cash ranging from $1 to $100.
SATURDAY IN THE PARK: On Saturday, August 26th the Redbirds will put on another Fireworks Extravaganza in conjunction with Fan Appreciation Weekend at AutoZone Park. The fireworks show will begin shortly after the conclusion of the Redbirds 6:10 p.m. game with Nashville.
DUCKS ON THE POND: The infamous Duck Pond Day will return to AutoZone Park for the final home game of the season on Sunday, August 27th. Fans can win Redbirds prizes by plucking a duck from the wading pool in the entry plaza before the game. Each plastic duck will have a corresponding number on the bottom and can be exchanged for great prizes for the first 1,500 participants.
LOOKING AHEAD: Following the homestand the Redbirds will hit the road for the final eight games of the season. Memphis will square-off with Round Rock for the second time in as many weeks beginning Monday, August 28th. After four games with the Express the Redbirds will wrap up the 2006 regular season at New Orleans with a four-game slate with the Zephyrs. The final game of the season will be Monday, September 4th at 2 p.m.
