The visiting New Orleans Zephyrs dropped their third consecutive contest falling to Nashville on Thursday 6-1. Sounds outfielder Laynce Nix drilled a first inning two run home run to centrefield and starting pitcher Dana Eveland allowed one run on two hits in the victory. Nashville won its third consecutive game and won the series 3 games to one. Marlon Byrd led the way for New Orleans, three hits including a solo home run. The Zephyr offense was held to two hits through six innings and the Sounds pitching staff limited the Zephyr offense to a .186 batting average for the series (24 hits in 129 at bats).

Game Notes: The Zephyrs pitching staff struck-out six hitters on Friday, giving the club 1001Ks for the season, tops in the league. It is the third time in Zephyr franchise history the club has struck-out over 1000 hitters. The Zs are last in the PCL with 87 home runs but have homered in eight consecutive games. New Orleans has allowed at least a run in each of the past four games and has allowed 91 first inning runs this season. Marlon Byrd added three hits on Friday and has a seven game hit streak: 13x28 with 11 RBI and 5HR in the streak. The Zs have committed just four errors in their last 18 games. Washington Nationals pitcher Felix Rodriguez made his second appearance in a Zephyrs uniform on a rehab assignment, he worked two innings, allowed 2 runs on three hits and walked three batters. Chris Booker streak of not allowing run was snapped at 9.2 innings.
