Nashville Sounds News Release

Metro Archives will be hosting an open house on Saturday, August 19th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be a chance to meet some former pro players with Nashville ties, current Sounds players, and "Ozzie", the Sounds mascot.

Sounds players attending the event include pitchers Ben Hendrickson, Dennis Sarfate, and Mitch Stetter, as well as outfielder Kennard Bibbs.

The Sounds players will be signing autographs from 11:30 to 12:30.

At 1:00, there will be a presentation on the history of the old Sulphur Dell ballpark. Light refreshments will be offered.

The open house coincides with Metro Archives' summer-long "Grand Slam" baseball exhibit of vintage photographs, autographed baseballs, game programs, rare newspaper accounts and other memorabilia.

The exhibit, which is free of charge and runs through September 15th, offers Nashvillians a nostalgic look back at the history of both pro and amateur baseball players, teams and the historic fields in Nashville where they played.

Metro Archives is located next to the Mall at Green Hills at 3801 Green Hills Village Drive.

For more information about the exhibit and open house, call Metro Archives at (615) 862-5880.
