May 27, 2013 - International League (IL1)
Rochester Red Wings News Release
¨THE LEAD: Red Wings starter Vance Worley turned in the Wings 4th complete-game shutout of the season and the second of his career as Rochester took the series opener from the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 5-0, Monday afternoon at Frontier Field... The win snapped Lehigh ValleyÂfs 6-game win streak that began after Kyle Gibson tossed a CG-SHO against them last Sunday in Allentown, PA... The 4 CG-SHOÂfs is the most in the IL this year (no other team even has one) and the most in a season by a Red Wings team since 2007 (6)... For Worley it was his first CG-SHO since July 9, 2010 with Reading (AA, Phillies).
¨Eric Fryer went 2-for-4 with a triple, 2 RBI and a run scored... He has now scored a run in the last 6 games he has started -- setting a Red Wings season high... 5 of his 11 hits this season have now gone for extra bases and his triple Monday was his first since June 18, 2011... Despite hitting just .172 on the year, FryerÂfs on-base percentage rose to .329
¨Fryer gunned down Pete Orr trying to steal second base in the first inning... It was the first caught stealing by a Red Wings catcher since May 14 vs Durham when Chris Herrmann nailed Rich Thompson at second... It was FryerÂfs first caught stealing since May 7 at Toledo... The Wings entered play Monday, T-2nd in the IL throwing out 38% (15 of 40) base stealers.
¨The Red Wings went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position on Monday and are now hitting .311 (38-for-122) in those spots over the last 12 games raising their average on the year to .224 with RISP. On May 14, the Wings were hitting just .194 in those situations.
¨Antoan Richardson reached base 3 more times on Monday going 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI... The Wings leadoff man has a .435 OPB in his first 14 games as he was now walked 13 times already.
¨Brian Dinkelman picked up another hit Monday and is now batting 6-for-13 (.462) on the homestand after going just 7-for-48 over his first 17 games at home this season.
