Red Wings announce Opening Night II
April 20, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Rochester Red Wings News Release
The Rochester Red Wings today announced that Saturday night (April 21) will be Opening Night II as the Red Wings take on the Syracuse Chiefs at 6:35 p.m. Fans will be able to enjoy all the Opening Day ceremonies they might have missed due to the weather conditions on Opening Day Saturday, April 7. In addition to all the Opening Day festivities, the first 5,000 fans (of all ages) will also receive a 2007 HSBC magnet schedule.
"Our players had Spring Training in February and March and then we had Winter Training the first 10 games of the season. All the games we've played this season have been less then ideal to play and watch baseball in. Saturday will be our chance to have the fans enjoy all the Opening Day festivities as well as post-game fireworks," said Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason.
"For many fans who couldn't make it to Opening Day this will be their first chance to congratulate our team on a terrific 2006 season and welcome them back to Rochester and wish them the best for a great 2007 season," added Mason.
2007 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Rochester Red Wings being community owned and that will be the theme to Opening Day II. Shareholder Kevin Klingerman will represent the 8222 shareholders that saved baseball by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
At each game throughout the 2007 season a different shareholder will be designated as our Shareholder of the Game and will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch that game. Any shareholders that would like to be featured as a Shareholder of the Game sometime in 2007 should contact Bob Craig at (585) 454-1001, ext. 3021 to schedule a date.
Opening Day II will be highlighted by a post-game fireworks display.
As part of our Opening Day II celebration bunting will be hung, both teams will be introduced, scoreboard videos looking back at 50 years of community ownership will run in pre-game ceremonies, and manager Stan Cliburn will address the fans.
The Showvanistics will perform the national anthem, and the Showvanistics feature shareholder and board member Dan Guilfoyle.
Tickets are available by stopping by the Frontier Field Box Office, or by calling the box office at 423-WING (9464).
