Red-White Game Sunday at 1:00
August 28, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs Annual Fall Camp will continue Friday and Saturday at the Spokane Arena with three scrimmages each day, 10:30, 1:00 and 3:30. For Chiefs brass the three day, three team format has been a good change, "Camp has been very good," Chiefs Director of Player Personnel Chris Moulton said.
"The young guys have been very impressive and not intimidated by the play. The competition level in every scrimmage has been better every game."
"This format gives us more time which allows us to have a better chance at being prepared. Going to three teams has been the best decision that we have made. It gives us a chance to focus in on 70 players, rather than the 90 that we have seen before."
The Spokane Chiefs annual Red-White Scrimmage will take place Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Spokane Arena. The scrimmage is free and open to the public. Spectators are asked to enter the Arena through the Chiefs office on the southeast corner of the Arena.
The Red-White game signifies the end of the Fall Camp and kicks off the start of a five game game pre-season schedule. Spokane will travel next Friday to take on Portland in the Everett Silvertips Annual Pre-Season Tournament . The Chiefs will play three games in three nights with a game versus Tri-City on Saturday and the host Silvertips on Sunday. All three games will begin at 3:00. Spokane's pre-season schedule will end with two games the following week, Thursday, September 10th versus Everett in Tri-City and then on Saturday, September 12th against the Americans in Kennewick.
The Chiefs will open the regular season with a pair of games in Prince George on Friday, September 18th and Saturday, September 19th. Chief's fans can follow the action on 1510 KGA with the voice of the Chiefs Mike Boyle.
Spokane's home opener will take place on Saturday, September 26th when the Americans visit the Arena on Bud Light Opening Night and 25th Anniversary Puck Giveaway presented by the Black Book by Hagadone Directories.
Tickets to all individual games will go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 4th.
