Blaine Tendler Retires from the WHL

Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - The Prince Albert Raiders announce that 19 year-old defenseman Blaine Tendler has decided to retire from the Western Hockey League effective immediately to pursue other interests. Tendler plans on returning to the family farm in Viceroy, Saskatchewan this weekend to assist in the harvest, then pursue his post secondary education, as provided by the WHL, in the trade of welding.
Tendler was the Raiders 2nd round selection, 28th overall in the 2005 WHL Bantam Draft and played the past three plus seasons on the Raider blue line, appearing in 173 regular season, and 5 playoff games.
"It is not in my heart to play anymore", said Tendler. "I have lost the passion to play at the WHL level. It was a very difficult decision for me to leave Prince Albert and the Raiders. I would like to thank the organization, staff, billets, fans and my team mates for the past 3 seasons."
"The Raiders would like to thank Blaine for his service over the past three plus seasons", commented Head Coach and General Manager Bruno Campese. "Blaine has been an integral part of our organization, but we respect his decision to move on and we wish him well with his future endeavors. He now becomes a Raider Alumni."
This leaves the Raiders with 35 players on their training camp roster: 4 goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 19 forwards heading into their second pre-season game tomorrow night in Aberdeen against the Saskatoon Blades. Game time is 7:00 PM with the game live on 900 CKBI.
