Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades have signed three players to WHL Standard Player Agreements. Right Winger Brett Stovin (Stony Mountain, MB), center Stefan Burzan (Surrey, BC), and goaltender Tyler Oswald (Sanford, MB) are the latest Blades prospects to come to terms.
Stovin, who stands in at 5'11 and 158 lbs., was taken by the Blades in the 5th round (90th overall) in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft. He spent last season with the Interlake Lightning Bantam AA team. In 49 games played, he had 87 goals and 57 assists for 144 points and added 22 penalty minutes.
Burzan, who checks in at 6'0 and 164 lbs., was taken by the Blades in the 6th round (130th overall) in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft. He spent last season with the Surrey Thunder Bantam AAA team.
Oswald, who stands in at 5'11 and 165 lbs., was taken by the Blades in the 5th round (96th overall) in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.
"In looking over the evaluations from our training camp, these three players stood out to us in a big way," said Molleken. "We were very happy with their development over the summer and look forward to seeing what they can do in the years ahead."
Both Stovin and Burzan will be eligible to play in up to five games with the Blades as 15-year-olds during the 2009-10 season until each midget season is done. Stovin is expected to spend the season with the Interlake Lightning of the Manitoba Midget AAA Hockey League. Burzan will be joining the Valley West Hawks of the BC Major Midget League for the 2009-10 season.
Oswald, a 16-year-old, is eligible to join the Blades for the upcoming season.
