RICHMOND, VA - The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Richmond Braves 7-3 in a game stopped by rain in the ninth inning Friday at The Diamond. The Red Sox overcame a three run deficit to take three out of four games from the Braves.

Richmond jumped out quickly. In the first, Brayan Pena singled a run home, Graham Koonce drilled an RBI double, and Doug Clark chased a run in with a ground out to give the Braves a 3-0 lead. The Sox chipped back with two in the second. Joe McEwing and David Murphy knocked in runs with singles to cut the Braves lead to 3-2. Bobby Scales RBI single in the third tied the game at three. The Sox moved in front in the fourth on Brandon Moss' RBI double. McEwing knocked in another run in the sixth with a single to give Pawtucket a 5-3 lead. In the seventh Moss smacked a home run and Ed Rogers produced a run with a sacrifice fly to cap the scoring.

David Pauley survived the three run first to pitch six innings and earn the win. Dan Smith took the loss. Moss had three of the Red Sox 13 hits. Five Braves had two hits each.

The Braves open a six game, four day series with Buffalo starting with a doubleheader Saturday at The Diamond at 6 PM. Trey Hodges and Ryan Basner are the scheduled starting pitchers for the Braves against the Bisons Jason Stanford and Jake Dittler.
