
Red-Hot Peralta Leads WhiteWings to Sweep of Roadrunners

HARLINGEN - David Peralta drove in all three Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings runs in a 3-2 win over the Edinburg Roadrunners on Sunday at Harlingen Field.
The first place-WhiteWings (9-3) complete the four-game sweep of the Roadrunners (3-9) for the first time since August 2007. The WhiteWings are now 7-1 against the Roadrunners this season.
With the WhiteWings trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Leivi Ventura singled against Corey Goudeau (0-3) and moved to second on an error. Peralta followed with an RBI-single.
The game remained tied into the bottom of the sixth, when Ventura drew a seven pitch one-out walk. Peralta followed with a home run over the right field wall, his second of the season.
Peralta finished 3-for-4.
The Roadrunners got their only run against Andy Wells (2-0) with two outs in the first when Gabe Memmert singled and Osiel Flores hit an RBI-double.
Wells lasted six and one-third innings, striking out seven while giving up five hits and three walks.
The Roadrunners tacked on a run in the eighth against Eddie Dennis Jr. With one out, Brandon Wilkerson walked and moved to third on a single by Gabe Memmert. A wild pitch allowed Wilkerson to score.
Danny Rondon pitched a scoreless ninth for his first save.
The WhiteWings welcome the San Angelo Colts to Harlingen Field on Twofer Tuesday, presented by RC Cola, at 7:05 p.m. Fans can purchase two-for-one tickets, hot dogs and soda as well as half-price beer. Left-hander Chase Davenport (0-2, 8.64) is expected to face right-hander Chandler Barnard (2-0, 3.75). Gates open at 6:05.
