
Roadrunners Swept by WhiteWings

HARLINGEN, Texas---The Edinburg Roadrunners were swept by the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings after a 3-2 loss Sunday night at Harlingen Field.
The Roadrunners (3-9) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first. Gabe Memmert reached on a two-out single and then moved to third on a double by Osiel Flores. With runners at second and third, a wild pitch allowed Memmer to score giving Edinburg the 1-0 lead.
RGV (9-3) answered right back in the bottom of the first against Corey Goudeau (0-3). Leivi Ventura reached on a two-out single but a fielding error allowed him to move to second base. David Peralta followed with an RBI single that allowed Ventura to score tying the game at one.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Peralta hit a two-run home run giving the WhiteWings the 3-1 lead.
In the top of the eighth, Brandon Wilkerson reached on a one-out walk and then moved to third on a single by Memmert. With two outs in the inning, a wild pitch allowed Wilkerson to score cutting RGV's lead 3-2.
Danny Rondon picked up the save after a scoreless ninth that sent Edinburg to their sixth straight loss with a 3-2 final score.
The Roadrunners return home for a four-game series against the McAllen Thunder starting Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Aaron Guerra (1-1) is expected to be on the mound for Edinburg as the Thunder play at Edinburg Baseball Stadium for the first time this season.
