
Red Claws Stopped at Expo

Portland, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, brought a loaded lineup into the Portland Expo, but fell just short to Raptors 905, 108-104.
Maine (1-4) had three players on assignment from the Boston Celtics. Brad Wanamaker led the Claws with 20 points on 7-14 shooting. Robert Williams added 16 points and 8 rebounds, and Guerschon Yabusele added 16 points and 4 boards. Walt Lemon scored 13 points, and P.J. Dozier added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
Raptors 905 (5-1) was led by Two-Way Player Chris Boucher with 32 points, and Kay Felder added 29 points and 7 assists.
The Claws started fast with Yabusele and Williams scoring, each on an assist from Wanamaker. Yabusele followed that up with a three ball, also assisted by Wanamaker. The Red Claws surged to an 11-0 lead to start the game. Maine took a 17-4 lead into the first timeout. Jeff Roberson buried a corner three to give the Claws a 24-12 lead. The 905 cut into the deficit, but Maine led 32-25 after 1.
In the 2nd, Williams' big block got the offense going, but Chris Boucher caught fire and the 905 cut the deficit to two at 39-37. Kay Felder gave the 905 a 40-39 lead. Wanamaker tied the game at 43, but Raptors 905 kept the pressure on, taking a 58-55 lead into the locker room. Maine shot 43.9% (18-41) from the field in the first half, while the 905 shot 45.5% (20-44).
Raptors 905 opened the 3rd with some quick buckets, with Felder knocking in another three to put the 905 up 8. Wanamaker hit a three to cut it to 3, but the 905, led by Felder and Boucher, extended to an 85-77 lead after 3. In the 4th, Watford's bucket put the 905 up 10. Lemon scored two quick buckets to cut it to 89-83. Boucher stopped that run with a three for his 30th points. Williams slammed one home to get the crowd into the game, and Yabusele backed one in to cut it to 3. Felder hit a big three to put the 905 back up 6. Maine got it back to 2 but could not get any closer.
The Red Claws shot 44.7% (38-85) from the field, 33.3% (9-27) from downtown, and 19-23 from the free throw line. Raptors 905 shot 45.7% (37-81) from the floor, 28.6% (12-42) from three, and 22-27 from the charity stripe.
