Red Claws Holding Autism Awareness Night Tonight
January 31, 2020 - NBA G League (G League)
Maine Celtics News Release
PORTLAND, Maine - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Unum, announced today that the team has partnered with the Volk Packaging Corporation for a second straight year to hold Autism Awareness Night, which will take place at tonight's 7 p.m. game vs. Westchester at the Portland Expo.
The Red Claws will represent Autism Awareness Night by wearing specialty "puzzle piece" themed jerseys on the court. Like last year, the entire night will include a sensory-reduced environment at the Expo, in an effort to support fans with Autism - public address volume will be reduced, and flashing lights and other typical game presentation elements will be limited. There will be a "quiet room" open to all patrons in the event of over-stimulation. Proceeds from the night's 50/50 raffle will benefit Spurwink Services.
"We are thrilled to once again hold Autism Awareness Night," said Dajuan Eubanks, team president. "We were recognized by the NBA and the NBA G League for last year's efforts - no G League team had gone to the lengths to make that game as Autism-friendly as we had. It's exciting to have Volk Packaging on board again for what should be a great night."
Doors will open for Autism Awareness Night at 6 p.m. with a tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
