Red Claws Acquire Husson's Josh Jones from RGV; Acquire Kent from Fort Wayne

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that they have acquired Husson University standout Josh Jones from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and three-year NBA Development League veteran Anthony Kent from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in separate trades.
6-4, 205 lb. forward Josh Jones was acquired from the Vipers in exchange for the Red Claws 2011 3rd round selection, Charles Okwandu (University of Connecticut). Jones, who participated in a Red Claws open tryout before signing an NBA Development League contract and entering the 2011 draft, helped lead the Eagles to a 21-7 record this past season and a berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship. A native of Jefferson, ME, Jones ranked third in the state in points per game (19.2) and second in rebounding (11.4), and finished in the top 10 in four other statistical categories. He was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Year as well as the Player of the Year by Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association.
6-10, 225 lb. center Anthony Kent was acquired from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in exchange for Sadiel Rojas (Oklahoma Wesleyan), the Red Claws 4th round selection in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft. Kent, an alumnus of Ball State University, has spent three season with the Mad Ants, appearing in 136 career games. Last season he averaged 5 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
The Red Claws will open training camp on Friday, November 11 and will open the season at Springfield on Friday, November 26. The team will return home for its first home appearance of the season on Saturday, December 3 when they host the Armor at 7 PM.
