Erie BayHawks News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, November 4 - The Erie BayHawks have acquired guard Donald Sloan and forward Joseph Kennerly III from the Reno Bighorns in exchange for guard Blake Ahearn and forward Taj McCullough.
Sloan (6-3, 205) played collegiately at Texas A&M and was a standout for Reno last season where he averaged 10.7 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. In Sloan's senior season with the Aggies he averaged 17.8 points a game and was named to the Big 12's All-Conference first team.
Kennerly, a product of Central Oklahoma, is a 6-9, 265 lb forward and was the seventh round selection of the Bighorns in last night's NBA Development League Draft.
"We're excited to add Donald and Joseph to the team. We consider Donald one of the top young prospects in the league, and Joseph will bring much needed experience," said BayHawks head coach Jay Larranaga. "I also want to personally thank Blake for the two great seasons he gave us. He is the consummate professional both on and off the court and we wish him well."
Ahearn and Sloan played together on the USA Men's Basketball Team during the Pan American games, where they received a bronze medal. In a five game span, Ahearn averaged 10 points while Sloan finished with 8 points per game.
