September 27, 2020 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York Red Bulls News Release

The New York Red Bulls (6-6-2, 20 pts) snap their three-match home losing streak on Sunday night in a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Impact (5-8-2, 17 pts) at Red Bull Arena.

New York improved to 3-3-0 at home and remained in a tie with NYCFC for sixth place with 20 points in the Eastern Conference. The Red Bulls have strung together back-to-back wins for the first time since September of 2019.

Montreal grabbed the match's first goal in the fourth minute as Bojan ripped a shot from 25 yards out to beat David Jensen to the near post.

New York responded back with back-to-back Tom Barlow goals in a span of 21 minutes. Barlow's first goal came after a well-placed cross from Mandela Egbo in the 14th minute. The St. Louis, Missouri, native came back with his second of the match when Cristian Cásseres Jr. sent in a ball on the ground into the six-yard box for Danny Royer, who one-touched the pass for Barlow to tap in.

The Red Bulls tallied a pair of second-half goals in a span of one minute and 35 seconds from Royer and Kaku to clinch the 4-1 victory.

Barlow recorded his first career MLS brace in a span of 21 minutes to raise his career total to five MLS goals. It was New York's first brace since Danny Royer's two-goal game against New York City FC on July 14, 2019.

Barlow became New York's 11th different goals scorer this season. New York recorded 18 different goal scorers last season to tie the league record set by D.C. United in 2016.

Barlow's goal in the 14th minute snapped New York's home scoreless streak that spanned 314 minutes.

Royer tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season and 39th MLS goal of his career. His 39th MLS regular-season goal tied him with Clint Mathis for fifth on the franchise's all-time leading goal scorers.

The Austrian winger goal in the 56th minute was his 50th goal across all competitions. He also recorded his first MLS regular-season two-assist game.

Kaku recorded a goal and assist to raise his career MLS regular-season totals to 13 goals and 24 assists. His 24 career MLS regular-season assists move him into a tie with Mark Chung for ninth all-time at New York.

Kyle Duncan, Casseres Jr. and Egbo all tallied an assist in the match. Casseres Jr. has recorded an assist in back-to-back matches and Egbo has a goal and an assist in the last two games.

The Red Bulls recorded their 23rd league match with at least four goals at Red Bull Arena and 25th across all competitions.

New York's four goals tonight matched their goal total from their previous five home matches.

New York has allowed one goal or less in 10 of the 14 matches this season.

Interim Head Coach Bradley Carnell improved his managerial record to 3-2-0.

New York is 46-48-20 all-time in the month of September. New York has scored 171 goals in the ninth month of the year and allowed 180.

The Red Bulls hit the road for three of the next four matches, beginning with Orlando City on Saturday, October 3. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. with coverage on FOX and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
