Red Bulls Lose to D.C. United, 1-0 at Audi Field

October 27, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York Red Bulls News Release

The New York Red Bulls (12-11-7, 43 points) dropped three points to D.C. United (12-13-5, 40 points), 1-0, on Wednesday night at Audi Field.

With the loss, New York sits in eighth place with 43 points, just one point below the playoff line to D.C. United with a game in hand.

A through ball down the right-hand side found Nigel Robertha inside the 18-yard box. Robertha sent his pass across the face of goal for Kevin Paredes, who beat a diving Carlos Coronel in the ninth minute for the eventual game winner.

Captain Sean Davis moved into a three-way tie with Dax McCarty and Mike Petke for third all-time in franchise history with 169 MLS regular-season games played.

Following his 90-minute match, Davis remains the only Red Bulls outfield player to play every minute this season

Lucas Monzón made his MLS debut, substituting in the 68th minute for Reyes.

Both of New York's four-game road winning streak and eight-match unbeaten streak were snapped.

The Red Bulls have played in 19 one-goal matches in 2021, owning an 8-11-0 record in those matches.

11 of New York's 12 losses this season have been by one goal. The Red Bulls lone two-goal loss came against New England when Andrés Reyes was sent off with a Red card.

New York was held scoreless for just the first time in 11 matches and the sixth time overall this season.

The Red Bulls have allowed just two goals in five matches during the month of October.

New York will look ahead to CF Montréal on Saturday at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on MSG, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
