
Red Bull Arena to Host Doubleheader of International Matches in August

HARRISON, N.J. - Red Bull Arena will host a doubleheader of international matches on August 1 with Club Deportivo Olimpia facing Futbol Club Motagua and Deportivo Independiente Medellin taking on America de Cali S.A. Kick-off for the doubleheader is set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
Red Members will have access to an exclusive presale window beginning today at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets go on-sale to the general public at 12 p.m. ET today.
PRESALE: CD Olimpia vs. Motagua; Medellin vs. America de Cali
Club Deportivo Olimpia finished top of Group B of Liga Nacional this season, after earning 11 wins in 14 matches, and only conceding nine goals. In the Liga Nacional final, they defeated Motagua on penalty kicks, 4-3, to win the league. Olimpia participated in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League but fell to Club America in the Round of 16, 2-2, on away goals.
Futbol Club Motagua finished second in Group B of Liga Nacional right behind Olimpia. They finished four points behind Club Deportivo Olimpia with 31 points from 14 matches. This will be a rematch of the 2021 Liga Nacional Final. Former New York Red Bulls midfielder Amado Guevara started his career with Futbol Club Motagua in 1994. He made 258 appearances for the club and recorded 72 goals, which is third all-time in franchise history.
The second match of the doubleheader will put Deportivo Independiente Medellin against America de Cali S.A.
Deportivo Independiente Medellin finished ninth in Liga BetPlay Dimayor in Colombia this season. They finished with a 6-8-4 record. Medellin won the Copa Colombia in back-to-back seasons in 2019 and 2020.
America de Cali S.A. sits in eighth place of Categories Primeria A with 29 points. They won the league in 2020 defeating Santa Fe. Former New York Red Bulls forward Antony de Avila, who played for the Red Bulls from 1996 to 1997, started his professional career with America de Cali S.A. He made 492 appearances' and scored 208 goals, which is the most in franchise history.
