
Record Six Belters Selected to Frontier League All-Star Game

NORMAL, Ill. - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, announce a franchise record six players have been named Frontier League All-Stars. Cullen Babin, Aaron Dudley, Sam Judah, Alan Oaks, Mike Schwatz and Tyler Shover will all be representing the CornBelters in the All-Star Game which will be held on July 16 at GCS Ballpark, the home of the Gateway Grizzlies.
Cullen Babin was named a starter in the rotation after appearing in six games out of the pen. In the five games Babin has started, he has gone 4-1 and has a 2.90 ERA on the season with two complete games including a one hit game against the Frontier Greys.
The first baseman Aaron Dudley is hitting .287 on the year with 16 doubles, five home runs and 27 RBI.
The Ozark, Ala., Sam Judah is batting .321 on the season with 36 RBI, 14 doubles and five home runs for the Belters.
Alan Oaks has appeared in 18 games for the Belters and has posted a 0.84 ERA while recording seven saves and 24 strikeouts in just over 21 innings pitched.
Outfielder Mike Schwartz was selected as the only starter in the lineup and is also the only two time all-star for the Belters. He is currently hitting .350 which is the second best average in the league for an outfielder and the sixth best average overall. Schwartz has 11 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBI on the season.
Catcher Tyler Shover has a .306 average with 17 RBI, six doubles and one home run.
"This is a great honor for all of these guys and I am very proud of them. Each one of them is having a great season and it's nice to see them rewarded for their hard work," said CornBelters Field Manager Brooks Carey. "They will be representing the CornBelters in the All-Star game and will make us all proud they play for our team."
"Having a record number of All-Stars this year is a real marker for our organization and it shows that others around professional baseball are recognizing what is happening here," said CornBelters President Steve Malliet. "Having professional baseball played at its highest level in Central Illinois is something we have worked tirelessly to bring our fans and I believe we see that in the election of six players to the All-Star team this year."
The two managers in first place following Wednesday's games will manage in the All-Star Game and they will select the final three players per division to finalize each roster on Thursday. The Belters return home on Tuesday to begin a four-game homestand with the Joliet Slammers beginning with a 6 p.m. doubleheader that night followed by single 7 p.m. games on Wednesday and Thursday.
