Playing their first home game since January 5th, the Rebels would be in for quite a test against the conference leading Oil Kings."¨"¨
FIRST PERIOD"¨"¨
The Rebels opened the scoring while on the powerplay. Mere moments after being robbed by Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Broissoit, Rhyse Dieno fed a pass toward Turner Elson that ended up deflecting off of an Oil Kings defender and in. Dineo scores his 12th, Brady Gaudet assisted on the 1-0 Rebels goal 11:25 into the game.
SECOND PERIOD
"¨"¨Edmonton tied the game 14:22 into the middle frame. Patrik Bartosak made the initial save, the puck then laid loose near the crease and Keegan Lowe banged it home before Bartosak could cover up. For Lowe, the goal was his 10th of the season with TJ Foster and Trevor Cheek earning the assists. 1-1 through two periods.
THIRD PERIOD"¨"¨
The Rebels regained the lead on an absolute beauty by Dieno. He raced in on a breakaway and beat Broissoit with a shifty forehand deke. Scott Feser assisted on the goal at 8:20, 2-1 Rebels."¨"¨
The Captain scored the insurance marker for his club as Turner Elson beat Brossoit with a shot from the slot for his 16th goal of the season. Brandon Underwood had the lone helper on the goal which made it 3-1 Red Deer with 5:50 remaining."¨"¨
Rhyse Dieno capped off his hat trick performance with an empty netter at the 19:00 mark, Brooks Maxwell with the lone assist. Rebels win 4-1 despite being outshot 37-29.
