Red Deer, Alberta -- The Red Deer Rebels scored three unanswered third period goals Sunday night to score a come from behind 5-4 victory over the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings.
Willie Coetzee capped a huge third period by scoring the game-winning goal with 48 seconds left in regulation. Coetzee also notched the game-tying goal for Red Deer and assisted on the Rebels' third goal by Colin Archer just 1:23 into the final frame.
With the loss, Brandon's third in a row, the Wheat Kings slipped to 4-4-0-1 on the season and will close out a 2-game Thanksgiving long weekend road trip Monday afternoon in Edmonton with a game against the Oil Kings.
The loss was Brandon's third in a row (0-2-0-1) and left them at .500 for the season (4-4-0-1).
Matt Calvert, Mark Schneider, Toni Rajala and Jay Fehr scored goals in a losing cause for the Wheat Kings, who return home to face Lethbridge and Kamloops following Monday's game in the Alberta capital.
Tickets to both weekend games go back on sale first thing Tuesday morning at the Keystone Centre box office. However, fans can order online at ticketmaster.ca or by calling 726-3555.
