Week in Review
October 9th, 2009 Calgary Hitmen 5 Regina Pats 0
In their previous four games, the Regina Pats scored 28 goals, and that all came to an end on Friday night in a 5-0 loss to the Calgary Hitmen. Michael Snyder was solid with a 34 save shut-out for the Hitmen, he did get some help with the Pats hitting 3 goalposts in the hockey game. The back-breaker was a mysterious goal by Tyler Fiddler 14 seconds into the second period that was banked off goaltender Dawson Guhle and to the back of the net.
October 7th, 2009 Moose Jaw Warriors 9 Regina Pats 6
Two days earlier saw the Pats end a 3 game winning streak with a 9-6 loss in Moose Jaw to the Warriors. The Pats penalty kill, which has been solid all season, was scored on in 5 of 8 attempts. On the positive side, the power play scored on 2 of 4 attempts and Jordan Eberle continued his torrid scoring pace with the hat trick and an assist.
News and Notes:
Top line is....tops:
Since coming back to the Pat line-up after a strong Edmonton Oiler training camp, Jordan Eberle has combined with Jordan Weal and Brett Leffler for a potent top line. In the 5 games, the trio have combined for 14 goals and 33 points.
Eberle topping the charts:
Jordan Eberle is currently the Pats active leader in goals with 110 for his Pat career. This pushes him into the top 20 all time and past Rhett Gordon (Pats 92-96), Len Nielsen (82-87), Gary Dickie (85-89) and Rob Tudor (72-76) on the modern day Pat (1966-present) all time goals list and is now just 2 back of Taylor Hall (81-84). Eberle's 216 points puts him past Darren Veitch (76-80) on the all time points list.
Davidson flying under the radar:
18 year old rookie defenceman, Brandon Davidson, is continuing his stellar rookie campaign. He is 5th in team scoring, while also in the top ten in defensive and rookie scoring.
Guhle filling the void:
With Damien Ketlo nursing a tender groin, rookie goaltender Dawson Guhle has filled in admirably with back-to-back wins this week. He has 3 of the 4 Pat wins this season, and has started 4 straight games.
Leffs is best:
In his 5th season as a member of the Regina Pats, 20 year old forward, Brett Leffler, has been one of the top players in the WHL. He is tied for 4th in the league in scoring, tied for 5th in plus/minus and tied for 3rd in assists.

Around the office:
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
The Regina Pats are proud to have been one of the forerunners in the WHL for the cause of Brest Cancer Awareness. For the past few seasons, the blue and white have raised money for the Canadian Cancer Society with the sales of pink Pats memorabilia and the auctioning of pink game worn jersey's. This month is no different, with the Awareness night coming on October 17th as the Pats host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. That night the blue and white will be...the blue "pink" and white, with a game long silent auction for the special, game worn jerseys.
Sportsman's Dinner is around the corner:
It's not until January 28th, but the Regina Pats Sportsman's Dinner is back this season, in conjunction with another Pats/Warriors alumni weekend. The dinner is on Thursday, January 28th, with tickets available at the Pats office.
Goals for Kids:
With the Pats filling the net 6 times this week, the Prairie Mobile Communications "goals for kids" fund is now up to $570. $15 from every goal scored will be donated to the Ranch Ehrlo Outdoor Hockey League, courtesy of Prairie Mobile Communications.
